What is a Shire horse?
The Shire horse is a breed of draft horse that originated in England. They are typically black, gray, or bay in color and can stand up to 18 hands high (six feet at the shoulder). They are considered to be among the strongest and most powerful horses, capable of pulling very heavy loads. Shires have large heads, small ears, and long manes and tails. They have an easy-going demeanor and are known for their even temperaments, making them popular for driving carriages.
