What is a Connemara?
The Connemara Horse is a breed of pony native to Ireland. These compact, hardy and sure-footed animals have been used for centuries throughout Ireland as a working horse, primarily for pulling carts, carrying heavy loads and even occasionally serving as mounts in battle. They have also been used in competitive sports such as show jumping, eventing and driving competitions. Connemara Horses come in many variations of color including chestnuts with white markings, gray with black points and duns of many shades; they range from 13.2hh - 15.2hh (hands high) tall at the withers.
